I met up with the Beaudette family on a beautiful spring evening for an Edmonton Family Lifestyle Session on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton. I have been friends with Kyler and Desurae since elementary, and our friendship has stretched through those awkward teenage years and into our adulthood. There is nothing to compare to the feeling of watching old friends grow their families and find true happiness, not to mention the trust they showed me when they asked me to capture their timeless, cherished memories.

I’d been privileged to capture Callie’s newborn pictures when I was just starting my business and was thankful for the opportunity to capture them now as a new family of four! Callie and her little sister Marlow looked absolutely adorable and the bows made by Amber at Mama Madness were so precious.

We wanted to do something different for their family session, so we picked out an urban setting, wandering the area around Whyte Avenue and through Old Strathcona in Edmonton looking for unique backdrops. The wind picked up around us, and although the cooler air wasn’t quite what we were hoping for, the whole family powered through with no complaints. We were able to capture some gorgeous pictures with the assistance of the wind, as it picked up both hair and laughter in one gust.

In fact, nothing could keep them down—not even when Callie skinned her knee! Her happy, goofy personality shone through every little bump and scrape, and nothing could keep her from exploring and having her own little adventures.

The whole family is like that; they radiate love and happiness. Their true joy and laughter makes them not only the perfect subjects to photograph but also great friends. 


Desurae and Kyler, thank you for letting me photograph your family. I enjoyed all the cuddles and laughs, and seeing your beautiful family grow.
